The Foundation intends to fulfil his legacy through actively engaging in and promoting our work specifically through Education, Arts and culture in addition to assisting in the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged and under privileged young people at home and abroad.
Felix’s specific wish from his will stated that a sum be set aside to be given to a school in St Kitts & Nevis (the place of his birth) for underprivileged children in order that that a Scholarship/Bursary fund is set up in his name, namely The Felix Dexter Scholarship.
It is however the intention of the Foundation to enable the Scholarship to become an on-going award.
The Scholarship will also be supported by educational and writing bursaries both here in the UK and abroad, providing opportunities for young underprivileged people to fulfil their potential in the arts and related industries who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to do so.
With the assistance of the Educational and Cultural Ministers in St Kitts & Nevis, the Foundation aims to build and develop a performance venue for the promotion of the arts on the Island in Felix’s name.
It is also through Felix’s illness and untimely death in October 2013 through myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer, The Foundation aims to actively seek and promote the importance of bone marrow and blood donation amongst the African & Caribbean communities by supporting charities and organisations that actively seek to provide a lifeline to those living with bone and blood cancer or other related illnesses where a transplant is required to save life.
Through promoting the Arts to assist young people in developing their lives through training, classes/workshops, and performances, providing a greater opportunity to excel in their chosen art forms, but in particular through comedy and drama.
Fostering, nurturing, empowering diversity amongst underrepresented groups within the arts.
Make provision for marginalised young people to gain access to scholarships, bursaries and maintenance allowances.
The advancement and promotion of health for all in such a way that every person especially those in need are afforded with information, education and support that enables them to improve their quality and longevity of life.
To actively raise funds and receive contributions where appropriate to finance our work.
